Local cafe and catering company, The Verdict, secured more than $1000 in the latest round of Gunnedah Shire Council's Business Partner Program (BPP) for a new coffee cart.

The cart will form the basis of the business' stall at AgQuip in August.

Cafe owner Tracey Geddes said she applied for the funding in readiness for AgQuip.

"It was the best time to try to get some funding and [the council] ended up coming through with $1,250 and ... it helps with cash flow," Ms Geddes said.

Ms Geddes said her husband built the cart by hand, so the money would go towards a new coffee machine to sit on top.

After AgQuip, the cart will be used to cater for the Gunnedah Jockey Club and may also be set up outside the cafe on Conadilly Street "to ease congestion".

The Verdict is among seven recipients in construction, childcare, retail, and health and fitness to share in almost $13,000 in funding.

The recipients were endorsed at Wednesday's ordinary council meeting and Cr David Moses commented that they were "all good candidates".

"It's great to see council continuing on to support the businesses in our community especially those businesses that are feeling the pinch of the drought," Cr Jamie Chaffey said.

"I'm very proud of our organisation supporting our small businesses."
