HealthWISE senior primary health care nurse Fiona Robertson said the disorder was nothing to fear, and that the entire community could have a role in making life easier for sufferers.
"It's capacity building. It's about getting people educated and involved in making their town dementia-friendly," Ms Robertson said.
"I think people would be surprised how many people Australia-wide are getting diagnosed younger and younger."
