It was the second meeting this year the club has abandoned after its Somerton Cup meeting was cancelled in May.
The Rod Ollerton-trained Royal Tudor lugged a huge 64.5kg through the Heavy going to register a narrow win over locally trained Beale Street (Gavin Groth).
"It was a huge effort," said winning jockey Aaron Bullock of a horse not noted as a mudlark.
"He got through it," Bullock added.
"He's been carrying a lot of weight."

Tom Ollerton, father of the trainer, was in charge of Royal Tudor and the former Scone trainer was delighted with Royal Tudor's effort and fortitude.
"He wasn't going well enough to take to town," Ollerton admitted.
"He needed to win this race to get back there."
The extra tough win was the ninth of his career in 37 starts.
Winning jockey Andrew Gibbons said the conditions tested Giordano.
"He's still got a bit to learn," Gibbons said.
Gunnedah Jockey Club president Kevin Edmonds said it was disappointing to call off the meeting after four races but the safety of the jockeys was paramount.
"At least we got through to the Cup," he said.
"We've had 15 to 16mm here, the track was slippery and just a little chopped up."
Gunnedah's next meeting will be held on on Monday, August 19.
