NVI met the 28-year-old at an Aussie Rules games on Thursday and found out that she spent two years studying at the Rozelle campus of the University of Tasmania.

Ms Lisle said she was 25 when she decided to pursue paramedics and had just returned from overseas.

"I was working in healthcare and decided to go and do something in line with health but not so indoors," she said.

"I'm probably a more hands-on person."

She is the first in her family to take on paramedics and said she liked "the challenges and opportunities that this job has to offer".

"You never know what the day is going to bring and you get to meet some pretty cool people along the way and work in different environments all the time. It takes you to different places like Quirindi and Tamworth," Ms Lisle said.

The trainee said she had settled in well in at the Gunnedah station where she will stay until January 2020.

"There's still so much I've got to learn and see but that comes with experience. I'm excited to see what the years will bring," she said.

Another new trainee will join the station in early August.
