Now look at them.
The Roos won their second match of the season with a 30-24 home defeat of a Narrabri side who went into Saturday's clash having blitzed the Cowboys at Dungowan the previous week.
Injected with confidence, the Roos were "excited" about the remainder of the season and were loving their footy, said their coach, Shane Rampling.

After winning their first-ever top-grade game in a 22-18 defeat of the Cowboys on June 1, Boggbari lost 26-22 and 26-18 to Gunnedah and Werris Creek, respectively - games they could have won.
Boggy then beat the Blues, whom they led 30-10 at one point.
"We've still got a long way to go," Rampling said. "But the boys are enjoying their footy at the moment.
"And when we get close and win a couple of games, obviously confidence plays a part. So we're a more confident footy side."
Rampling praised the performances of halves Jayden Campbell and Dylan O'Brien against Narrabri, as well as second-rower Bailey Lennox, hooker Matt Gillham and lock Kahn Juhnke - the Roos' players' player.
