Adnan Al Youssef appeared via video link in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday from a Sydney office, flanked by his barrister.
He pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter after the shooting on the night of December 26 at Coomoo Coomoo Creek Road at Bundella.
Magistrate Julie Soars ordered Youssef to remain on bail, and committed him for sentence to the Tamworth District Court.

DPP solicitor Max Dixon tendered "some draft agreed facts" in the case and a signed case conference certificate, but said he didn't "have a criminal record for the accused".
Youssef's barrister Michael Ainsworth said the draft facts still needed work.
"There will be one small amendment to the agreed facts to include something from a walk-through video of the scene," he told the court.
"I'll note they are draft facts," Ms Soars replied.
It's the police case that Youssef caused the death of 23-year-old Ali Wannous in Bundella, near Quirindi, by discharging a firearm without regard to public safety, amounting to manslaughter.
Detectives claimed Youssef fired a registered firearm in an apparent accident, while cleaning the gun, on Boxing Day night.
Mr Wannous, who is also from Sydney's south-west area, died at the scene.
It's understood the pair were part of a group of eight who were visiting the Coomoo Coomoo Creek Road property on a hunting trip.
Youssef will front court again in August to formally enter a plea and a date for sentence will be fixed.
He was granted bail in a Sydney court just two days after the shooting when he posted $5000 surety. He had to surrender his passport, and must live in Yagoona in Sydney.
At the time, the court heard Youssef was employed as a site foreman for Sydney company and managed several employees.
