Some secondary schools in the area have seen a 20 per cent increase in their student populations since 2015, but the department said there were more than enough classrooms already.

Gunnedah High had 434 students enrolled at the start of 2019, a figure which has increased by 12 per cent since 2017 and was only slightly down on 2015 enrolments.
Meanwhile, Narrabri High has seen its enrolment figures drop by 11 per cent since 2015 with 527 students at the school this year.
Some schools in Tamworth had seen a 20 per cent increase in the last four years, but the department's spokesperson said the region could cater for future growth and the schools weren't currently at capacity.
