A 14-man Australia suffered their first loss of the tournament - in what was their third and final pool game - going down 56-33 to England at Santa Fe on Thursday.
Against England, Australia No.8 Pat Tafa was red-carded in the second minute of the first half, when his shoulder made contact with the neck of English backrower Aaron Hinkley in a front-on tackle.
Wilson - a former Red Devils junior - made a break early in the second half that led to Noah Lolesio scoring.
The Courier Mail reported that the Queensland Reds were grooming Wilson to be Scott Higginbotham's backrow replacement next season.
