Operation Stay Alert wrapped up on Monday, after more than 2900 drivers were randomly breath-tested in the north-west region and there several fatal crashes across the state.
A number of vehicles left the road and hit other objects, Highway Patrol assistant commissioner Michael Corboy said.
"While the causes of all the crashes on the weekend are still under investigation, I would encourage all drivers or riders to be aware of their surroundings and take breaks if they are tired," he said.
