The Giants edged Black Beers 10-9 in the final on Monday.
Jody Revell, who captained Gunnedah at the carnival, believes that it is the Giant's first divisional win the event - held for the 51st time this year.
"It was real good, actually," he said, adding that the triumph was a "surprise".
"Like, we've been playing in the carnival for I'm not sure how many years now. But I know I've been playing for about 12, and we've never got that far before."

What made the win even more impressive was the fact that Gunnedah only had three of their usual players in the team and no reserves.
"We've got a few that come back every year just to play the carnival, and we had a couple of other people as well," Revell said.
"And so it's really the first time we've really all played together as a side.
"And we only had the nine players - we didn't have any reserves, so we all played the whole carnival the whole time."
