Played over the long weekend, the tournament will see Gunnedah's open age team take on the best players in the state.
Gunnedah coach Nereida Ewington said recent local carnivals had helped the team prepare for the challenge of the state championships.
"The team has attended two carnivals over the last two Sundays, which provided us with valuable court time," Ewington told the Namoi Valley Independent.
"That court time was crucial because we don't really get much of a chance to train together, so getting that chance to play together a little bit was extremely important.
"What was pleasing was that the team performed really well in those carnivals and should be full of confidence heading into the state championships."

Ewington said this year's team was aiming to improve on last year's showing at the state showcase.
"It's a first for me to coach an opens team at a state championship," she said.
"But, I am confident with the team we have and the girls have a don't-give-up attitude.
"We do have a few new players into the side this year, but the time they spent playing together over the last couple of weeks should have them ready to go.
"Honestly, it is a really great group of girls and I can't wait to watch them give it a go."
Ewington said she expected some of the team's younger players to impress during the weekend-long tournament.
"I have coached Alex Jones, who is now 18 years old, since she was just 12 years old," she said.
"Alex has transitioned from playing as a centre, which she is great at, to a shooter over the last two years.
"She has really improved and impressed me so far this year.
"As has Keira Novley, she is a great defender who is relentless and is responsible for numerous turnovers every game she plays.
"I have no doubt those two girls will continue to impress and the whole team will enjoy the carnival."
The team will take to the court for its first game on Saturday morning.
