Convenor Jenny Darley said entries were "up a little" this year, which was encouraging.
"There have been a lot of entries this year, with wonderful support from our local and outer region schools and we are very much looking forward to another successful speech and drama eisetddfod," she said.
"The most popular sections are the humorous poems and the poems for two. [Children] enjoy performing with a friend, which gives them confidence, knowing they are not up on stage on their own."

Another highlight of the program is the Speak Off on Tuesday, which will see Gunnedah High School and St Mary's College go head-to-head in live debates from 4.30pm at the Civic Theatre.
Ms Darley said Gunnedah Eisteddfod Society was trying to focus more on public speaking this year.
"A little workshop has be organised to help children to get started and feel comfortable with this very important skill, which is needed throughout their entire life," she said.
"If they start early, it is not such a big deal and they will be confident to voice their opinions with their peers and in public meetings."
