When the NVI spoke to Ms Lincoln on Wednesday, she said she was "very surprised" to be nominated.
"You don't do volunteer work to get anything, to be nominated or get a certificate or get a free lunch. You do it to make people happy," she said.
"Either you like it and you've got it in you, or you don't and you don't do it. That's how I feel about volunteer work, anyway."
Ms Lincoln said she has been helping out at the drovers' campfire for about four years and is a jack of all trades.
"You name it, I do everything - help cleaning toilets, to help putting up fences, to cooking barbecues and driving the bus," she said.
Ms Lincoln said she committed time to the award-winning event because "the money comes back into the town where I live".
"I'll keep doing what I do for the town where I live. That's the only reason, really," she said.
When Drovers' Campfire founder and fellow Lions member, Geoff Eather, heard the news about Ms Lincoln's nomination, he said, "Good on her".
"She's certainly a live-wire and she's into everything. You ask her to do something and she'll do it to the best of her ability," Mr Eather said.
"She does a terrific amount for the community so I'm quite pleased she's been nominated for that.
"Her heart's in the right place ... She's got all our support."
Narrabri Shire Council will host the award presentation on Friday.
