Emergency services were called to the corner at 4.30pm on Saturday, May 18; they put traffic diversions in place, used absorbents on the leaks and removed the vehicles from the road.
Gunnedah police's Sergeant Mark Benson said an 87-year-old male driver had "sailed through the Barber Street intersection" eastbound, and had crashed into the other driver's car travelling south on Abbott Street.
"The driver has failed to give way and subsequently collided with the right-hand side of [the other vehicle]," Sergeant Benson said.
"This has caused both vehicles to spin and all airbags to deploy in [the 87-year-old's vehicle]."

The 83-year-old passenger in the other vehicle was taken to Gunnedah Hospital with a broken wrist, but the 17-year-old P-plate driver was unharmed.
Sergeant Benson said the police were waiting on the extent of the injuries before determining what action would be taken against the driver at fault.
Inquiries are still continuing into the cause of the accident, but Sergeant Benson said "alcohol was not a factor".
