THE achievements of local swimmers were recognised during the Swimming Gunnedah presentation night at Gunnedah Rugby Club on Friday.

President Justin Hobson expressed his confidence in the future of the club and thanked all parent volunteers for their continued support, naming Hope Rennick as the club person of the year.
A mother of three swimmers, Mrs Rennick received the Clare Walker trophy for "outstanding contribution to club affairs".
The function was attended by life members Ula Lightfoot, Belinda and Geoff Dawson, Shirley George, Rod Green and Glen and Marie Hobson who presented awards, along with special guests Marina Maas and Ruth Pope.
The outstanding achievement awards are calculated on points achieved for placings and records at local carnivals, Speedo Sprints, NSW Country, State Age and national titles.

The 11-13 years (intermediate) Chapple family trophy went to Amelia Lush, with the RSL outstanding achievement shield (14 years and over) presented to Andre Steele.
Coach John Hickey named Andre Steele as the squad member 'demonstrating improvement at training' and Angus Hobson as the recipient of the Steve and Cathy Smith 100 per cent award for effort.
The Eileen Carter encouragement award for a swimmer who has shown 'genuine effort and improvement' went to Bree Morrison, with the Apex encouragement awards for improvement and effort presented to Danika Jones and Hugh Kennedy.
The Mikie Maas Spirit of the Games award for 'team spirit, enthusiasm and effort' was presented to Amelia Lush by Marina Maas, with the prestigious Lyn Miller Memorial sportsmanship award going to Zoe Palmer.
NSW Country qualifiers Amelia Lush, Andre Steele and Maddison Coombs were presented with representative uniforms recognising their achievement at state level.
Club age champions: Ed Waerea ( 7-8 years:); Angus Hobson, Audrey Hanaford (RSL Sub-Branch Shield), runners up are Dana Campbell, Eliza Campbell, Georgia Lyons, Tahnee Steele, Danika Jones.
11-12 years: Darcy Hannaford (Charles Kendal Stokes Shield), Angus Hobson (runner-up), Amelia Lush (Dan Killick Shield), Savannah Lyons (runner-up).
13-14 years: Andre Steele, Chloe Sumpter (GASC trophy), Brooke Rennick (runner-up).
15 and over: Kurt Rennick, Maddison Coombs (GASC trophy), Zoe Palmer (runner-up).
Open: Angus Hobson and Darcy Hannaford (Drayton Shield, RSL Sub-branch trophy), Maddie Coombs, Ava Hannaford (runner-up).
Awards for most improvement in each stroke at club night:
Freestyle: Savannah Lyons, Brodie Coombs (runners-up Chloe Sumpter and Jedd Rennick).
Backstroke: Georgia Lyons, Angus Waerea (runners-up Savannah Lyons, Brodie Coombs).
Breaststroke: Amelia Lush, Jedd Rennick (runners-up Savannah Lyons, Brodie Coombs).
Butterfly: Brooke Rennick, Jedd Rennick (runners-up Savannah Lyons, Brodie Coombs).
Individual medley: Amelia Lush and Savannah Lyons.
Learn-to-swim and stroke correction squad awards for beginners who show commitment, enjoyment and effort during lessons: Cameron Sills, Zac Akinyemi, Aiden Lewington, Toby Burrow, Yuvan Van de Mere, Evan Thomas, Gus Simpson, Annabelle Doyle, Nikita Wade, Maggie Brown, Breanna kemp, Sybella simeon, Kaiylin Carr, Annabelle Mitchell.
The ceremony concluded with a barbecue tea and disco for the young swim team.
