Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce is calling on Parkes' election candidates to recognise the need to support businesses in the ongoing drought.
Chamber president Stacey Cooke said government assistance was vital for businesses "in times of financial crisis".
"A lot of thought goes into how the farmers can be assisted, which we support and encourage, however, businesses often feel the pinch of the drought and as yet, there doesn't appear to be any relief for regional small businesses," she said.
"Not one candidate gave a reasonable thought-out answer. All answers revolved around that the government did support small business because farmers were businesses," Mrs Cooke said.
