Music convener Marg Amos said the number of entries was "about the same" as last year despite the drought.
"The drought has impacted [the eisteddfod] a little with some of the instruments," Mrs Amos said.
"Brass doesn't seem to have had an impact, but others have ... they're down a little bit."

But Mrs Amos also said "considering the conditions of the district", the Gunnedah Eisteddfod Society was "very pleased" with entry numbers.
This year's instrumental section adjudicator is James Brice, who has had 29 years' worth of experience in professional conducting, teaching and performing.
He is the head of performing arts at Knox Grammar School in Sydney, and has showcased his ensembles in a variety of countries such as the United States, China, Spain, Vienna and many more.
The society is also looking for more volunteers during the eisteddfod, with jobs such as greeting at the door, writing on award cards, selling coffee or taking on the role of emcee.
Those interested in volunteering at the eisteddfod can contact Gunnedah Conservatorium on 6742 3998.
