Where do you live?
Coonamble
What do you do for a living?
Local business owner. Tyre retail and repairs.
How long have you lived in the electorate?
45 years.
What is the best part of living in the electorate?
It would have to be the people and the way of life.
Why are you running for the federal seat of Parkes?
Voters aren't being listened too and are being treated with contempt. We also have a member that won't face up to tough issues like:
- Coal Seam Gas.
- Water mismanagement.
- Drought.
- Inland Rail.
- Lack of funding, removal or sell offs of essential services such as health, education, communications, and public infrastructure.
NAMOI UNLIMITED PRIORITIES
Namoi Unlimited recently released its list of priorities for the next Parkes MP, including the below. If elected, what will you do towards:
* water security?
Funding for research into management systems and infrastructure to ensure sustainable water for communities, environment and industry.
* supporting agribusiness to further drought-proof towns?
Agribusiness needs to be supported and encouraged to spread their wings into international markets. Infrastructure for these ventures need to be assisted so that in times of drought employment does not suffer and the supply of services or products remain.
* continued funding and support for road upgrades such as Rangari Road?
Funding and support for road upgrades is essential for all of the Parkes electorate.
* investment in young people and their careers?
More incentives need to be made available to business and industry to encourage and make it affordable to train and employ young people. The TAFE system needs to be looked at and systems put in place to make it more attractive for students and teachers.
OTHER POLICY POSITIONS
In your opinion, what are the most pressing issues facing the electorate?
- Coal Seam Gas has to be banned.
- There needs to be a Federal Royal Commission into the water mismanagement in the Murray Darling Basin.
- Drought needs to be declared a natural disaster.
- There needs to be a Federal inquiry into the Inland Rail project to determine how the route was selected, costing and why the construction of the line was not tendered out to Australian businesses or companies.
- Funding must be increased into essential services such as education, health and communications.
- Indigenous People need to have a voice. They are the original custodians of this country and must be able to have an input into their own future and problems by having their own elected representative to put forward their views and concerns.
What would you say are the most pressing issues facing the Gunnedah area specifically?
- Mining-Farming issue.
- Drought.
- Water security.
- Communications (Mobile and internet).
What are your key election promises?
The only promise I will make is that I will work for the electorate and not for the party.
What is your message to the voters?
Let's get a fairer share of what this electorate deserves.
