Every Friday night the Gunnedah CWA rooms will transform into a food bonanza, with noshery volunteers serving up soup, sandwiches, a main meal, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits.
Local organisations such as St Vincent de Paul, Woolworths, Coles, Gunnedah Food Pantry, Gunnedah Salvation Army, and TurningPoint Church have donated everything involved to get the "soup kitchen" going.

Kate Perceval is spearheading the initiative and said the purpose was to help those who may be struggling in the drought.
"The aim is for a bit of financial relief for people, and some people who may be living on their own to have a meal with someone else, for a bit of community spirit," Ms Perceval said.
"People are struggling; wages aren't going up and everything else is."
"I really appreciate everyone who has supported me; without all the support and co-operation that was involved I never would've done it."

The good Samaritan said she came up with the idea after volunteering for a similar initiative in Singleton.
"I used to help out with one in Singleton and there was quite a bit of customers for it," Ms Perceval said.
"If we need it in Singleton, we need it here too."
Ms Perceval told the NVI she had a few volunteers already signed up to help, but "won't ever say no to more".
"I really appreciate everyone who has supported me; without all the support and co-operation that was involved I never would've done it," she said.
The Gunnedah Good Noshery will serve up free food every Friday night at the CWA rooms on Barber Street from 5.30pm-8pm.
