In the April business paper, council's Planning and Environmental Services director Andrew Johns wrote that "the combined road name was not supported" by the names board so council had contacted the subdivision developer, George Avard, who requested "Vera Close" and "Raymond Drive".
Councillor Ann Luke questioned why the council didn't already know that "double-barrel names" could not be used and and Mr Johns said his understanding was that they could create "more difficulty for emergency services and way-finding".
Councillor Colleen Fuller said she was "pleased" that the names would be put forward because the Avards were "a long-standing family in the community".
The proposed road names will be publicly exhibited and any submissions to be considered before they are put in place.
