A new shared pathway in Werris Creek is progressing quickly in the hands of a local contractor.

Werris Creek Concrete and Excavation is delivering the $372,456 project, which will link David Taylor Oval on Single Street to the the existing pathway, which currently ends at Russell Street.
The pathway works on the northern approach to the bridge have been completed, utilities like Telstra pits have been replaced and work has started to the south of the bridge.

Liverpool Plains Shire Council mayor Andrew Hope said he was "delighted" that the work was being carried out "in-house", investing funds in the shire.
"All sectors of the shire are impacted by the continuing drought crisis and LPSC recognises the importance of projects that help maintain and increase local employment opportunities and inject economic stimulus to assist retention of businesses and services," Councillor Hope said.
The footpath is closed while work progresses and changed traffic conditions are in place. The work site will also be closed during the Easter period and pedestrian access to the footpath will be restricted and signposted.
The pathway project is financed by the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Cr Hope said more projects will be rolled out in the coming weeks to "help sustain the local economy during the drought crisis" and improve "infrastructure and facilities that will leave a long-term legacy".
