Ten Gunnedah residents aged from 18 to 65 completed the course in two days a week from September, through Altitude Training Solutions and Jobs Australia Gunnedah.

Graduate Rory Midson said he overcame some obstacles while completing the course.

"I had a lot of social anxiety doing it, but I opened up to it," Mr Midson said.

"When you're out here doing this sort of stuff, it makes it a lot better."

Mr Midson said he was hoping to gain employment at Gunnedah Shire Council within the parks and gardens sector now that he has finished the course.

Fellow graduate Julie Shields wants to get into conservation of the local area.

Altitude Training Solutions trainer and assessor Belinda Milgate said she was very proud of her graduates.

"I'm proud of all my students in having that dedication, because it is a long course. I'm impressed with all of them," Ms Milgate said.

As part of the course, students completed 70 per cent practical components and 30 per cent theory, with a total of 15 units.

Practical work involved assisting many local community groups including: Moore Creek Landcare; the Christian Outreach Centre Gunnedah; and, in particular, Gunnedah Urban Landcare Group.

Students also completed a range of additional courses outside of the horticulture certificate, including the white card course, first-aid certificate, forklift ticket, and traffic control ticket.
