Kay Wheeler and Maureen Harrison looked after Quirindi's elderly folk for 20 years combined; Kay served for about 14 years and Maureen served for six years.

Friends, clients and workmates of the pair recently got together for a farewell morning tea at the Quirindi Home Support Office to send them off to their retirement years.

As part of their roles, the ladies would organise ladies craft days, lunches, outings, transport and much more.

They would make sure clients were living independently and kept their minds active.

​Liverpool Plains Shire Council general manager Ron Van Katwyk wished them well in their retirement.

"Kay Wheeler and Maureen Harrison have provided dedicated and caring support to those requiring it in our community through what was Home and Community Care (HACC) and is now Home Support Services (HSS)," Mr Van Katwyk said.

"They were very popular with the clients and wider community and will be sadly missed by all whom they interacted with.

"On behalf of the community, their clients and LPSC I wish them both the very best into the future and thank you for a job well done."
