After 22 years, the local man called it at day and was farewelled following a special presentation with fellow staff on Tuesday.
Mr Turner started working at the tannery in 1997 after Gunnedah Abbatoirs closed. He had worked there for 26 years.

Over the years, Mr Turner has worked his climbed the ladder in the operating shed and has been packing product for the past 10 years.
His extensive experience put him in the perfect position to mentor new employees and GLP manager Wellington Sardinha said he had "always shared his experience with others".
"Greg earned the trust of his managers and went up through the ranks," Mr Sardinha said.
"Greg has always ensured the product was packed correctly, which is very important because we export 90 per cent of our product.
"He's a valuable employee; he won't be easy to replace."

After more than two decades of getting out of bed at 4.30am, Mr Turner said he was looking forward to sleeping in, especially in winter.
The 65-year-old is not sure what he will occupy himself with yet, saying "I'll relax and work it out from there".
"I was a keen fisherman but there are no fish left," he said.
As Mr Turner wrapped up his shift on Tuesday, fellow staff lined up to shake his hand and wish him well for the years to come.
