Purple was the colour of the day, with staff and students of the Gunnedah school decking themselves out in purple accessories and clothing for a gold coin donation.

On show were purple socks, shirts, shoes, clips, ribbons, head bands, fascinators and feather boas. Coloured hair spray also made the rounds, as did purple zinc.
Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal.
