The events are aimed at young people aged 12-25, with highlights to include a film festival fundraiser, youth expo and scavenger hunt.

Gunnedah Shire Council’s youth development officer Sewa Emojong said Youth Week was a time to recognise the valuable contribution young people make to the community.
“Youth Week is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and show support for our shire’s young people," Ms Emojong said.
"Gunnedah Youth Council (GYC), supported by Gunnedah Shire Council, has put a lot of work into this year’s program of events.
“Youth Week is organised by young people, for young people and that’s what makes it unique.”
The week will start with the youth expo on Tuesday, April 9 at 10am at Gunnedah Town Hall. It is a free event featuring stalls, workshops, information sessions and giveaways.
The following day, an inter-school debate will see Gunnedah High School and St Mary’s College students battle it out to be crowned Youth Week 2019 Inter-school Debate Champions. The debate will be held at The Civic from 10.30am.
On April 11, Backtrack Boys will be screened at The Civic at 6pm, followed by a Q&A session.
On April 15, GYC's Drought Relief Short Film Competition will hit the big screen at the Gunnedah Town Hall from 6pm. The top 20 short film finalists from the Nextwave Youth Film Awards will also be screened on the night. Entry is $10, with all profits to be donated to Buy-A-Bale.
A new addition to the Youth Week program includes a Youth Leading the World Community Forum on April 16 - a program to discuss a more sustainable shire and the youth’s views on sustainability.
Also new to the program are pushy races on April 17 at the Gunnedah Go-Kart Track on Mullaley Road from 10am. Gunnedah Shire Council has partnered with the Gunnedah Cycling and Triathlon Club for the event. Entry is $5 for ages 5-25 years and participants need to bring a bike and helmet.
Beats, Bass and Basketball will be back again on April 17 at the Judi Guest Basketball Stadium from 6pm. The following day youth can participate in the Great Gunnedah Scavenger Hunt will be held from 10am at Kitchener Park. There will be giveaways, Bubble Soccer and a free sausage sizzle.
The action-packed week will wrap up with a Nineties to Now Trivia Night at the town hall from 6pm. Cost is $5 per person or $30 for a team.
