Gunnedah FC president Lindsay Sheedy said it was "thrilling for the kids" to have the chance to take the field at McDonald Jones Stadium.
"These opportunities don't come around very often and are really special when they do come around," Sheedy said.
"I think this is something these kids will remember for the rest of their life and from an association perspective, it's great to have kids so passionate about the sport."
Sheedy said the chance to play at half-time was "a feel good event" for the community.
"Given how many of us in the community are battling the drought it is good for something like this to come along," she said.
"Things are tough all over at the moment but this is something I think will bring a bit of a smile to everyone's face."
The club president said the group was very excited for the game.
