The application for Idemitsu’s Boggabri Coal's proposed centre was on public exhibition until February 28, after being lodged with Narrabri Shire Council on January 11.
The council said it was now undertaking a planning assessment report on the proposal, which should be complete in April.
Boggabri Coal is proposing to build a 397 square metre centre on the corner of Brent and Oakham streets and cater for up to 32 children aged 0-5, and, potentially, ages 6-12 through after-school or before-school care.
A spokesperson for Idemitsu said the centre could "help attract and retain people who have younger families to job opportunities with Boggabri Coal".
"We see the facility as one of a number of benefits in attracting employees and retaining employees with young families," the spokesperson said.
"The child care facility is still in the very early planning stages [but] the general local community response, which includes Boggabri Coal employees, has been very positive."
