Surrounded by close to 100 of her friends and family, Mrs Sawyer embraced the electric razor and lost her locks.
Mrs Sawyer raised more than $5300 prior to and on the day of the shave for the Leukaemia Foundation, to aid blood cancer research.
She said she “was not expecting this” as her original goal was $700.
Despite knowing all her hair would be gone in mere minutes, she said she wasn’t worried.
“I wasn’t as nervous as I thought [I would be], I knew I had to do it,” she said.
“Everyone was very supportive towards me and my Mum.”
Mrs Sawyer decided that she would shave her hair to support her mother, Jodie Holledge, who was diagnosed with terminal multi-myeloma in March 2017.
Mrs Sawyer said that a lot of people had told her the shaved look suited her.
“I can’t stop touching it, it feels very strange,” she said.
“It’s like I can feel the breeze through it.”
