On Tuesday, Constable Trevor Roberts will run the presentations for youth and their families as part of the state-wide prevention initiative.
The theme for 2019 is “Together for a better internet”, and encourages individuals to create a better internet community by developing four skills known as the 4R’s: Respect, Responsibility, Reasoning, and Resilience.

PCYC Gunnedah manager Michelle Gosper said it will be a great presentation for families.
“It’s really handy to come and have a listen about internet safety, and to get more of an idea on what your kids are searching,” Ms Gosper said.
“People should be concerned, because half of the time they don’t know what their kids are searching.”
It’s important that we’re making the children aware that once their images are out there on social media, they’re there for life.

Ms Gosper said Constable Roberts will also discuss social media safety on the day.
“It’s important that we’re making the children aware that once their images are out there on social media, they’re there for life,” she said.
Other important internet safety measures include ensuring all passwords contain letters, numbers and symbols, and ensuring that a secure connection is maintained before conducting online transactions.
The presentation will start at 7pm at the PCYC on View Street. For more information, phone 6742 1586.
