Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said there were low levels of skills in the health, community services, and construction and real estate industries.
“Quirindi is experiencing a shortage of local, skilled workers in a number of areas including aged and disabled care, pre-primary school teaching and childcare, construction and hospitality,” he said.
Mr Johnsen said it was the perfect time for residents to consider a career in one of these industries by completing a course through TAFE.
“TAFE NSW is Australia’s largest education and training provider and will continue to innovate and invest in courses to meet the skills needs of Quirindi,” he said.
The MP said that construction and development, and new health care and child care facilities would continue to generate demand for workers, which would open the doors to many potential employment opportunities.
