A temporary “bubble line” has been installed in Lake Keepit as a stopgap measure until the aeration unit announced on Tuesday arrives.

NSW regional water minister Niall Blair’s office told the NVI the line was about 150 metres long and ran to a depth of nine metres.
Air is being pumped in and forced through holes along the line, to oxygenate the water for the fish.
“When the Fisheries unit arrives, it will be swapped with the temporary arrangement,” the spokeswoman said.

Mr Blair announced this week two permanent aeration units would be installed in “a matter of days”, in an effort to prevent mass fish kills.
