The week-long holiday program has been running since Monday and will finish up on the weekend.
Each day, there are activities for all ages from 9.30am-11.30am. For Years 1-6, there is kids club and for Years 7-12, there is a teens section.
Adults are also catered for in the Summerfest Cafe, with daily morning teas and talks. Child-minding is also available for parents.
Highlights so far have included the family bush dance on Monday and the kids afternoon extravaganza. Upcoming events are The Big Night for teens and blokes barbecue on Friday. At the blokes barbecue, there will be a “meat taste-off”, with participants invited to try various unlabelled meats and guess which is which.
Summerfest co-director Ben Davis said 75 kids and teens attended the program on Wednesday and about 30 adults took advantage of the cafe.
“Everyone enjoyed the bush dance,” he said.
“There were a couple of people who were new to town and it gave them a chance to meet people.”
This is the second year Summerfest has been run by a group of about 50 volunteers from Canberra and Sydney.
“The main thing is that the team is enjoying reconnecting with people they met last year,” Mr Davis said.
There are about 10 more people on the team this year than last year.
“We’re keen to meet more people in the community,” Mr Davis said.
“It’s about making a bigger impact.”
