THE Gunnedah Showgrounds will come to life on Saturday thanks to Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain’s Katherine Outback Experience. The show, featuring live music, a working dog show and horse training will help raise awareness for the Dolly’s Dream foundation. Gunnedah Pony Club will be throwing its support behind the cause by fundraising through the showground’s canteen during the event. Club member Karen Guy said Dolly’s Dream was a cause close to the club’s heart. “I think the passing of Dolly Everett and everything surrounding that pretty much touched everybody in some way,” Guy said. “So, this fabulous event is a great way for us to not only raise funds for the foundation and our club, but also raise awareness of the subject of bulling and its consequences.” Read Also: Several members of the club will be pitching-in throughout the event including Rylee Mitchell who hopes the event will help bring the community together. “Things like this really help create awareness of what happens when you bully someone and the consequences it can lead to,” Mitchell said. “It is a prevalent problem with stuff like cyber bullying and things like that. “So an event like this is a great way to carry on Dolly’s dream and raise awareness.” Fellow club member Briana Guy said the club wasn’t “just doing it for Dolly, but for everyone”. “I think it is really important to look after your mates,” Briana said. “It’s important to speak up if you see something and make sure everyone is OK. “I think everything about this event will be a lot of fun and hopefully we can raise a lot of awareness.” Support the local news that keeps you informed – subscribe today. Saturday’s event is part of a regional tour which will see the show visit several towns throughout the North West.
