A recent shoulder injury has sidelined Jenkinson for much of the season so far and in order to return full time, bowling will not be possible.
“The time off I’ve had has done it the world of good but it still doesn’t feel great,” Jenkinson said.
“It still hurts to roll the arm over, so that’s why I will be back in our first game but only as a batsman.”

Jenkinson said he was hopeful the club’s youth would “step it up” and help fill the void with the ball.
“I think young Ash White will continue to do the job for us with the ball,” he said.
“He has broken into the first grade side now, he’s taken the new ball on a few occasions and I reckon he'll stay in the side for the rest of the summer.
“Ash has been super so far for us and I’m confident he can keep it going.”
Returning veterans such as Andrew George, Luke Ryan and Josh Ryan will also help add depth to Albion’s line up in the second half of the season.
“I expect our numbers to pick up from here and it will be great to have those guys back,” Jenkinson said.
“While we will be looking to really give our younger guys a good go, it’s important to compliment that with some more experienced guys.
“For our younger guys like Ash White our absence has been a bit of a blessing in disguise and we will for sure be looking to them going forward.
“Hopefully with that blend we can finish the year strong.”
Jenkinson said his “main focus” would be to go one better and take out the competition’s two-day title at season’s end.
“I know we are well and truly in the mix for the one-day title, but it’s not really a big priority,” he said.
“As we look to get our numbers back our main aim will be winning the two-day grand final at the end of the year.
“We came close last year and fell short so it would be good to go one better.
“I think we certainly have the players to do it, it’s just about getting them all on the park at the same time.”
- Albion will resume its season with a one-day game against Court House at Wolsely Oval on Saturday.
