The team began its campaign with a 10-6 win against Appin before going down 6-2 to a team from Japan.
Day two started on a winning note with the side picking up a 7-3 victory over Macksville earning them a spot in the quarter finals.
However, that’s where the side’s winning ways ended going down to Forster-Tuncurry 8-0 ,Beresfield 7-3 and Newcastle 9-1. Team coach Paul Brady was pleased with his side’s effort throughout the tournament.
“Manly was a very well drilled side and the score did not reflect the awesome effort that Gunnedah put into that game,” Brady said.
“Making the quarter finals is a fantastic effort given we are a team that has never played together before and the majority of the team has never played at state level before.”
