The school performed Shrek the Musical Jr twice on Tuesday, with students donning green paint, prosthetic noses, wigs and colourful costumes.
Based on the DreamWorks Oscar-winning animation motion picture, the family-friendly musical comedy follows the adventures of an ogre named Shrek who sets off on a quest to save a princess from a dragon.
Hugh Kennedy played the role of Shrek, Emily Pinn was Donkey, Olivia Osland was Princess Fiona and Jack Pinn played Lord Farquhard.
St Xavier’s principal Jen Honner praised the efforts of the staff and students.
“Shrek was an amazing example of how everyone works as team here,” she said.
The original Broadway production, starring Brian d'Arcy James as Shrek and Sutton Foster as Fiona, ran for twelve months and received 12 Drama Desk Awards and eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.
The musical was adapted to be performed by students by educational musical theatre consultancy firm iTheatrics.
