THE QUIRINDI tip will re-open on Wednesday morning after a fire erupted in the early hours of Tuesday.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Quirindi were called to the Quirindi waste facility about 2.45am after a fire was sparked in rubbish.
Backed by crews from the local Rural Fire Service (RFS), firefighters doused the slow burning blaze.
Firefighters took several hours to extinguish the fire, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
It forced the closure of the landfill on Tuesday but the recycle wing remained open.
Liverpool Plains Shire Council said the Werris Creek and Willow Tree landfills were opened for the day as short term measure.
The landfill would resume normal operations on Wednesday.
