The touring exhibition is on show at the Tamworth Regional Gallery, with a diverse line-up of subjects including some famous faces – rocker Jimmy Barnes, actor Guy Pearce, musician Courtney Barnett and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

Gallery director Bridget Guthrie said it was “enormously exciting” to welcome the Archibald Prize back to the country again after many years.

“It’s a showcase of some of Australia’s finest artists,” Ms Guthrie said.

“We really wanted to make this exhibition accessible to everyone and thanks to the support of the Art Gallery of NSW, ANZ, the University of New England and of course, Tamworth Regional Council, we are delighted to be able to offer the exhibition free of charge to visitors.”

Tamworth Regional Gallery will be conducting free guided tours every Wednesday at 11am and every Sunday at 2pm over the course of the exhibition.

The gallery will also be holding an artist talk with local artist and Archibald Prize 2018 finalist David Darcy on Sunday, December 16 at 1pm.

“The artist talks are not to be missed as they are a great opportunity to listen to the artists speak about their work and their experiences as an artist,” Ms Guthrie said.

The gallery is open open Tuesday to Friday from 10am-5pm, and weekends from 10am-4pm.
