Gunnedah rail-over-road project to create employment

The construction of Gunnedah’s new rail overpass is expected to deliver about 400 jobs.
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) contracted Daracon Group in August to deliver the $62 million rail-over-road project, which is funded under the NSW Government’s Bridges for the Bush program.
“Around 400 jobs are expected to be delivered to the local community over the course of the project,” an RMS spokesperson said.

Daracon Group's construction manager Adam King and project manager Simon Flannery with Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey in Gunnedah on Friday.
“Early work activities are expected to commence shortly,” an RMS spokesperson said.

“Before Christmas, weather-permitting, Daracon is expected to remove buildings at 2 and 4 Barber Street, install site offices, compound, boundary fencing and project signage, and will be transferring large equipment to site.
“These early works will have no impact on current traffic arrangements.”
