Parkes MP Mark Coulton has praised the three tiers of government for working together for the good of Mullaley.

“I’ve been working very closely with Kevin Anderson and Jamie Chaffey and it’s great when three levels of government can work together,” he said on Friday.
“Following my discussion with the mayor and general manager, I believe construction will commence as soon as possible and I’m looking forward to the job being done as soon as possible.”
“I drove the road today on my way home from Coolah and it is incredibly dangerous and dusty.”
On Friday, Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey echoed Mr Coulton’s word about working together.
“This is what happens when you’ve got coordination and cooperation across three levels of government,” she said.
“I’d like to acknowledge Mark Coulton – he’s fought the good fight – he’s got half the funding from the federal government. We’re putting up the other half from the state government and there’s a contribution too from Gunnedah Shire Council.
“And I think that’s a really important message – if you work together, you can deliver.”
Gunnedah shire mayor Jamie Chaffey said he was thankful to Mullaley residents for their patience after more than 10 years of lobbying for the road to be sealed.
“It has been a long time and without your persistence, continually coming back and talking to local government and state government, this certainly would not have happened,” he said.
“Grain Valley Road is our number one priority when it comes to fixing unsealed roads throughout the Gunnedah shire.
“The current drought situation has seen an enormous cost just to maintain this unsealed road at the moment, and it’s not even the best quality.”
“Now we can get on with business and we can finish the design and schedule when the works can begin.”
