“Nerves” and “excitement” will be the dominate sensations coursing through the bodies of Gunnedah’s players when the Group 4 women’s nines competition finally commences at Chillingworth Oval on Saturday, says Bulldogs captain Gemma Wicks.

Gunnedah were ready to go when the competition was cancelled last month due to a lack of player interest.

The competition was reactivated after more players got behind it.
Wicks said: “We’re all looking forward to it … when we got the message it was back on, all the girls were very happy.
“We don’t really know what to expect yet. We’re all kind of new to the league world.
“We’re just hoping it will be lots of fun and we all learn things about football.”
The competition will consist of two rounds, with the second round staged at Chillingworth Oval on December 1.
On Saturday, Gunnedah play South West Robins 2 and South West Robins 1.
