Gunnedah FC’s reserve grade went down three to one against Quirindi FC in this year’s first grade grand final, while the reserve grade progressed to the semi final stage.
“It was a great year for us after we were able to build up our numbers a bit,” Cooke said.
“The young guys coming through the ranks are also pretty exciting for us, so hopefully we can keep those guys around long-term.”
Cooke said the club would look to work on recruiting more players ahead of the 2019 season.
“Depth is a major concern not just for us but I think most sports across the region,” he said.
“It’s one thing to have numbers at the start of the season but we need to retain them, we need more depth.
“There’s some cracking talent right across the region and if we can tap into that, even the guys who can’t commit every week, then we should be better placed in regards to depth next season.”
