A day of sloppy fielding has left Kookaburras in a tough spot after day one of their clash against Albion at Kitchener Park.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Kookaburras captain Cameron Milne was searching for a wicket as Albion openers Jake Vigor (77) and Brad Jenkinson (44) combined to put on a 127-run partnership for the first wicket.
Milne said his side’s attitude was off from the start of the game.
“We fielded poorly throughout the day,” Milne said.
“Fielding is always about attitude and our attitude wasn’t there.
“The Albion openers got through a difficult period to start with and could have been four or five wickets down.
“We bowled well early, they just batted better than what we bowled.”
After some accurate bowling from Luke Ellis (3-20) the Kookaburra’s battled back to claim 5-30 to have Albion 5-157.

However, the comeback was short lived, as veterans James Mack (56*) and Damien Baldwin (36) helped guide Albion to 8-280 before Jenkinson declared Albion’s innings closed.
“I had in mind that we wanted to bowl about 15 overs at Kookaburras before stumps,” Jenkinson said.
“We batted well and were able to set ourselves up with a really decent target.
“With about 20 overs left I decided to declare and luckily it worked out pretty well for us.”
Kookaburras were unable to escape the 20 over period unscathed, finishing day one at 3-25.
Milne remains 12 not out and confident his side could turn things around next week.
“There’s an opportunity there for us and it’s just a matter of batting all day next week,” Milne said.
“Everyone has to contribute.
“If we are going to chase down 280 there is going to have be contributions from all the way down to number 11.”
The match continues from 1pm at Kitchner Park on Saturday.
