DESPITE a strong performance with the bat, Gunnedah’s under 14 Northern Inland representative cricketers began their season with a loss to Narrabri on Sunday.
After a shaky start to the innings, Jaycob Price led the way for Gunnedah amassing a knock of 73, including eight fours and three sixes.
He was backed up by an even 50 by Lachlan Straney, which helped the team post a total of 9-232.
However, an 113-run partnership between Sid Harvey (62) and Joey Fowler (73*) saw Narrabri across the line for their first win of the season.
Zac Craig was Gunnedah’s leading wicket taker with 2-43 from seven overs.
In the under 12’s, a patient 25 from 69 balls from Roy Peatling was not enough to see Gunnedah take home a win in their clash with Narrabri.
Narrabri conceded 46 extras to help Gunnedah to a first innings total of 100 off 25 overs.
In reply, Narrabri opener Darcy Todd helped guide his team to victory with an unbeaten 40, while Jonty Fowler topped scored with a quick-fire 43.
Adam Veli-Gold was Gunnnedah’s best bowler taking 2-5.
Gunnedah will next take on Moree on November 18.
