POLICE have fined a young woman $2435 after she was clocked travelling 178 kilometres per hour on the New England Highway.
The 20-year-old was stopped by police at around 10pm on Sunday after Oxley Highway Patrol officers caught her Hyundai Veloster at Gowrie.
The highway has a 100 kilometre speed limit and the woman was given an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kilometres an hour.
Her licence was suspended for six months and the car’s number plates have been confiscated for three months.
The infringement carries a penalty of $2435 and six demerit points, the offence comes as officers wrapped up Operation Drink Drive 2 at the weekend.
The operation targeted alcohol impaired motorists across New South Wales.
