The eight-year-old sprinter took out third place in the 100m race at the NSW Primary Schools Sports Associations (PSSA) Athletics Championships last week.
Cleal travelled to Sydney Olympic Park for the race and placed fifth in his preliminary 100m race on Wednesday, placing him in 14th position overall out of 43 runners.
The preliminary qualified him for the semi-final, in which he secured second place with a time of 14.99 seconds. This time raised him to fourth place on the ladder, qualifying him for the final.
