Youth was the focus of a full weekend of activities, which culminated in a traditional Maori Hangi on Saturday evening.
Other activities included the Hangi Youth Games, Hangi in the Country and children’s concert with Play School’s Alex Papps.
Blacktown City Council funded the community events, with a delegation of councillors, council staff, students, sports teams, youth leaders and performers from Blacktown and overseas arriving on Friday afternoon.
The weekend focused on the region’s youth and raising awareness of the drought.
“Visits like these are the best way to support the local economy,” LPSC deputy mayor Paul Moules said.
