Year 9 Student, Emily Butler played winger/centre for the under-15’s girls team, which achieved a fantastic result, placing third in the state.
“It was great to play at that level of tough competition, it was a real buzz to be selected to play in such a professional and competitive environment and a top level of coaches,” said Butler, who first started playing rugby for QHS in the winter competition this year.
Year 10 students Brodie Nankivell packed down at hooker while Sam Avard played centre/sweeper for the under-17s boys.
The side played six matches against tough competition but finished the championships on a winning note.
“I like sport because it’s fun and physical and great to be part of a team, met new people and I really enjoyed representing the school,” Nankivell said.
“The experience has given us a lot of information that we can pass on to our teammates and prepare for the future,” Avard, who unfortunately broke a bone in his thumb playing on the weekend, added.
