The volunteer organisation recently received $1500 from the Gunnedah Golf Club and $1000 through the Greater Bank’s #GreaterNewEngland community funding program.
Gunnedah RDA president Max Small said the finances would enable the association to continue its work in the community.
“It will provide enough finances in the drought conditions to buy fodder for our horses, pay vet bills, fuel for running around and upkeep for all our gear,” Mr Small said.
The RDA has five horses – four for riding and two for driving – and meets every second Friday in the Gunnedah Showground during the school term.
Due to events being held in the showground, the next riding day will not be until Friday, November 16.
“Despite the invaluable help provided by senior school students, we are always in need of volunteers,” RDA member Simon Lister said.
“Knowledge of horses is not required.”
